Models Validated for SEP

Any biogeochemical model used for a Soil Enrichment Protocol (SEP) project must go through model validation and calibration to ensure it is being used appropriately to quantify greenhouse gas reductions and/or removals for a specific project. Following completion of a model validation, the Reserve posts both the model validation report and the model reviewer report to this webpage. A summary table (see Reserve Model Summary column) is also provided outlining the approved project domains (land resource regions, practice change, crop functional group) by emission sources (SOC, N2O, CH4). Model versions with “N/A” were approved prior to implementation of the Reserve’s summary template. Model applicability for older versions may be found in the corresponding model validation report and reviewer reports.

In cases where a generalized model validation has been approved, projects that use these models must demonstrate that the specific model is valid and used appropriately for their project. Please refer to Reserve Model Summaries to assess if a model has been validated for your project domain or contact the model developer for more information.

Following is a list of biogeochemical models that has been reviewed by an expert third party with respect to the Reserve’s Model Validation and Calibration Guidance and does not indicate whether a specific model will be suitable for any given project. For questions regarding model applicability, please contact model developers directly. Please note that there are costs associated with using these models that are not set or under the control of the Reserve. Prior to commencing project modeling, it is recommended you contact the Reserve. The Reserve does not know or endorse the credit worthiness or reputation of any model developer or model listed below.
