Version 1.0
The Dominican Republic Livestock Protocol provides guidance on how to quantify, monitor, report, and verify greenhouse gas emission reductions associated with installing a manure biogas control system for livestock operations, such as dairy cattle and swine farms, in the Dominican Republic.
Approximately 29 percent of the territory is dedicated to livestock, and as of 2022 there are only 27 digesters in operation, none of which are registered carbon capture projects. With the development of the Dominican Republic Livestock Protocol, carbon credits will incentivize the capture and destruction of methane emitted from manure lagoons at dairy cattle and swine farms.
Public Comment Period
The Dominican Republic Livestock Protocol was available for public comment from August 7 to September 6, 2023. No public comments were received beyond editorial comments.
