Trends in Voluntary Corporate Action on Climate Change: Discussion and Observations from EPA’s Climate Leaders Program

At a time when legislative and regulatory action on climate change is the center of attention, corporations continue to advance climate change strategies both to prepare for mandates as well as position themselves with respect to longer-term market forces and social expectations. EPA’s Climate Leaders Program includes nearly 200 large commercial and industrial companies from various economic sectors and is the largest GHG goal setting program in the U.S. EPA staff will lead a discussion covering several intersecting themes, including:

– The state of corporate voluntary action broadly in the U.S.

– Initiatives and direction of the Climate Leaders Program

– Voluntary action in relation to future legislative/regulatory scenarios
