The Role of Offsets and Economic Development Opportunities in Oregon’s Clean Energy Jobs Bill

February 7, 2018 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am PST Ongoing

Oregon legislators will vote on the Clean Energy Jobs Bill during its short legislative session this February. The bill, if passed, will set up a cap and invest program designed to reduce the state’s GHG emissions to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. We are pleased to invite you to join the Climate Action Reserve for a discussion of the latest draft of this watershed legislation. The webinar will provide a broad overview of SB1070, highlighting the role of offsets and implications for linking with California’s cap and trade program. We will also discuss the efforts of the Agriculture, Forest, Fisheries, Rural Communities, and Tribes Work Group, which informed the design of the cap and invest program. The webinar will also focus on economic development opportunities for rural and tribal communities as well as opportunities for forest and grassland offset project types in Oregon.

Speakers:
Carl Fink, Founder and Managing Counsel, Blue Planet Energy Law, LLC
Don Sampson, CEO, Warm Springs Tribe; Climate Change Project Coordinator, Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians
